Cell phones are not permitted during the academic day at MVU. The academic day begins at 8:00 am and ends at the 2:36 dismissal bell. During the academic day, all student cell phones are required to be powered off and put away.
- There is often confusion about what off means. “Do Not Disturb” and “Airplane Mode” are not considered off. Off is powered down completely.
- Away means the cell phone is in a locker or in a backpack and it is not visible.
- Off and away also prevents students from connecting to wireless earbuds (Air Pods) or Apple watches. AirPods, wireless earbuds or watches connected to cell phones are also not permitted unless used without cell phone connectivity.
- Cell phone violations during the academic day will result in the loss of the student’s phone for at least the remainder of the day. Repeat violations will result in parent contact and arrangements for an adult to pick up the phone. Further violations may require phones turned in to the office at the beginning of each day for pick up at the end or to leave the phone at home.
- Student phone use after 2:36 pm and before 8:00 am is permitted.
- Students who need to contact home may do so in the Middle School office (HUB). Also, families should call the HUB at 802-868-7311 ext 194 with any messages or updates.
