2026-2027 School Year Starts Wednesday, August 26

The Missisquoi Valley School District has released its calendar for the upcoming school year, developed in collaboration with regional superintendents across Addison, Chittenden, Franklin, and Grand Isle counties. Based on family feedback, the first day of school will be a Wednesday rather than a Monday. The calendar also includes a four-day Labor Day weekend, with no school on September 4th or 7th. Indigenous Peoples' Day will remain a student day to allow schools to hold meaningful celebrations honoring Vermont's Native population — a practice requested by the Missisquoi Abenaki Tribe. No athletic events or practices will be scheduled on Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Diwali, or Eid al-Fitr. This is the final year regional superintendents will develop the calendar; beginning in 2027-2028, the Agency of Education will create a single statewide calendar under Act 73.
