The Missisquoi Valley School District kicked off the 2026-2027 school year with its annual district-wide convocation, bringing together educators and staff for a day of celebration, learning, and community building. Superintendent Julie Regimbal highlighted a 20% increase in early literacy among K-1 students, a chronic absenteeism rate of just 14.6%, and a jump in college enrollment to 44%. The district also reported a 92% teacher retention rate and 94% support staff retention rate. Two educators were honored as UVM Outstanding Educators of the Year: Erika LeClair of Swanton Elementary (Elementary Educator of the Year) and Julie Curtis (Secondary Educator of the Year). The day closed with cross-school, grade-level collaboration sessions — and MVU took home the trophy in the second annual Faculty Fun "Name That Tune" trivia competition, dethroning last year's champion Swanton Elementary.
